Recreation Leader - Outdoor Programs - Denia

Responsible for leading outdoor recreation programs.

• Plan, schedule, organize and implement the outdoor recreational activities for participants of all ages with supervision from Denia Recreation Coordinator.
• Lead, supervise, and instruct the outdoor recreational activities for participants of all ages.
• Provide care and protection for assigned participants, with the ability to respond immediately to emergencies, including administering first aid as necessary.
• Must safely demonstrate, instruct, belay, and supervise rock climbers of all ages.
• Must be able to safely drive and transport participants of all ages to various locations.
• Maintains attendance records, discipline, incident, and accident records as needed.
• Ensure all equipment and materials are accessible, appropriate, and in good condition.
• Ability to participate in staff meetings and annual training required by the department.
• May be required to lift heavy items.
• Enforce all site and State regulations
• Maintain regular and punctual attendance

• Must be 18 years or older 
• High School Diploma or GED equivalent

• Ability to get along with participants, parents, and co-workers.
• Ability to maintain regular and punctual attendance
• Strong ability to maintain discipline
• Ability to prepare and maintain reports
• Ability to communicate effectively with parents, guardians, children and co-workers
• Ability to motivate participants of all ages
• Knowledge of a variety of outdoor recreational  activities and the ability to convey that knowledge into an organized recreational activity

• Must have a valid Class "C" Driver's License prior to employment
  Must pass a drug test, driver's license check, criminal history background check, and social security number verification check
• Must obtain First Aid and CPR certifications within 30 days of employment
  Must obtain defensive driving certification within 30 days of employment
• Required to work various afternoon, evening, and weekend shifts

• Three months of full time experience or 6 months part time experience planning, coordinating, and implementing recreation programs
• Completion of one year of college with coursework emphasizing education, childhood development , or recreation studies
