Description
- The City of Norfolk's Department of Recreation, Parks and Open Space is seeking a talented and energetic Recreation Activities Instructor (Silver Jewelry Instructor) to develop and implement recreational programs and fee based classes to meet the needs of members of the community
Essential Functions
Department Hiring Salary Range: $15.00/hour
Essential Functions include but are not limited to:
- Knowledge and experience teaching beginning, intermediate and advanced silver jewelry making classes.
- Demonstrate ability to effectively work in a team environment by; following policy, procedure and schedule dependability.
- Excellent communication skills customer service.
- Experience with instructing,organizing classes.
Education/Experience
Requires equivalent to graduation from high school; advanced study or training past the high school equivalency preferred
No experience required.
The preferred candidate will have at least one year experience teaching Silver Jewelry making classes.Additional Information & Requirements
- Requires a valid driver's license.
- CPR/First Aid/AED Certification within six months of employment.
- Work Hours: Varies according to class schedule; Each class generated has 2 hours per week for 10 weeks per session. May include Saturday workshops which are 1-2 days, 3 hours per day.

- Retirement If you are hired October 5, 2010 or after to a position with City of Norfolk Retirement System benefits, you will be required to contribute five percent (5%) of your salary toward your retirement benefit. This will be a pre-tax payroll deduction.
