DEPUTY PUBLIC HEALTH OFFICER

 
The Fresno County Department of Public Health has an excellent career opportunity for the position of Deputy Public Health Officer. The Deputy Public Health Officer, reporting to the Director of Public Health and County Health Officer, is responsible for assisting with directing the development, implementation, operation, administration, and evaluation of medical aspects of public health programs within local, state, and federal regulation and policy guidelines.
 
The Department of Public Health, under the direction of the Director of Public Health, is responsible for assisting with the promotion, preservation, and protection of the community's health. This is accomplished through identifying public health and mental health needs, assuring the availability of quality health services, and providing effective leadership in developing public health policies. The Department of Public Health also works in partnerships with local communities to eliminate health disparities.
 

Education: Possession of a Doctor of Medicine degree from a medical school that is recognized or approved by the Medical Board of California or Osteopathic Medical Board or meet the requirement of California Business and Professions Code Section 2135.7.
 
License: Valid Physician's and Surgeon's Certificate issued by the Medical Board of California or Osteopathic Medical Board of California.
 
Experience: Two (2) years of management experience in a public health program or community medicine.
 
Substitution: Possession of a master's degree in Public Health that is acceptable within the United States' accredited college or university system may substitute for one (1) year of the required experience.
