Skilled and manual work operating a backhoe and loader. Work is performed under general supervision.
Essential Job Duties
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Operate backhoe, loader and other construction equipment.
- Repair water and sewer leaks.
- Perform manual laboring activities.
- Assist Crew Leader in setting up laser and/or conventional alignment grading devices.

FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS:
- Able to be on call during regular off duty hours for emergencies.
- Knowledge of principles and methods of operating a backhoe, loader, truck and other equipment.
- Knowledge of practices, methods and materials used in construction and maintenance in water/sewer network.
- Knowledge of rules and regulations pertaining to safety and operation of equipment.
- Ability to make minor repairs and adjustments to equipment and detect problems with equipment.
- Ability to perform manual work.
- Ability to follow and understand written and oral instructions.
- Skill in cleaning and maintaining equipment.
- Skill in operating a truck and trailer for transporting equipment.
- Skill in the use of hand and power tools.
- Operate backhoe, loader and other construction equipment.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school graduate or recognized GED. Two years experience as an Equipment Operator or one year experience as an Equipment Operator I. Must possess a valid Florida Driver's License at time of application.
(A comparable amount of training, education or experience can be substituted for the minimum qualifications.) Supplemental Information
