WATER & SEWER MAINTENANCE MECHANIC

This position is responsible for the installation, repair, and maintenance of the sewer lift stations.

Operates and maintains lift stations; troubleshoots control panels; replaces and repairs electronic circuit components and parts.

Maintains records and data on the maintenance and repair of lift stations.

Maintains station appearance; maintains station grounds.

Operates and maintains assigned vehicles such as boom truck, equipment, and tools.

Maintains diesel generators.

Inspects and troubleshoots telephone lines and SCADA systems.

Responds to after-hours emergencies.

Transports and connects portable generators during power outages.

Performs skilled repair of submersible sewer pumps and associated equipment.

Performs torch cutting and welding tasks; performs basic electrical tasks; reads blue prints and diagrams.

Maintains station force main pipe installation; maintains and records release valve data.

Obtains water samples; manages technical and field aspects of odor control.

Performs flow data tests.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

High School Diploma or GED; with two years experience in mechanical maintenance and repair of heavy duty pumping and auxiliary power equipment; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Must possess' valid class A driver's license.

 

Knowledge of lift station installation, repair, and maintenance.

Knowledge of city infrastructure.

Knowledge of sewer conveyance system construction materials, standards, and techniques.

Skill in establishing priorities and organizing work.

Skill in the electrical troubleshooting and welding.

Skill in oral and written communication.
