This position will provide care, custody, and treatment in a juvenile correctional rehabilitation facility. This position will:- Supervise youth in all activities;
- Maintain control of detained youth by giving directives, counseling and/or utilizing the appropriate level of verbal or physical de-escalation;
- Write reports and prepare required records regarding incidents, youth movement and noteworthy information; and,
- Ensure the proper documentation of all violations of facility operating procedures, rules and regulations, and state and federal statutes.
THIS JOB POSTING WILL BE USED FOR ONGOING RECRUITMENT AND WILL BE OPENED AND CLOSED AS NEEDED UNTIL ALL VACANT POSITIONS ARE FILLED.

This position is a Pay Band 55. Classification Description
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED and two (2) years of experience in a correctional setting, military duty, classroom teaching or instructing in a rehabilitative environment, working in planned recreational activities or active participation in community action programs, or for Correctional Officer Specialist positions, relevant work experience as it relates to the purpose of the position.
Employment Requirements:
Completion of the hiring process is contingent upon successful completion of pre-employment screening process. This position is designated a safety sensitive. Employment is subject to pre-employment and random testing, in accordance with all terms and conditions of federal and state law, rules and regulations in relation to alcohol and/or drug testing. Employment requires successful completion of post offer pre-employment physical. Pre-employment criminal background check is required and conditional pending results. Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License.
BONAFIDE OCCUPATIONAL REQUIREMENT MUST COMPLY WITH 8.14.5.27 NMAC. CHILDREN, YOUTH & FAMILIES DEPARTMENT/JUVENILE JUSTICE SERVICES POLICY REQUIRES GENDER SPECIFIC STAFFING TO CLIENT RATIO. POSTING MAYBE USED TO FILL POSITIONS THAT ARE DESIGNATED FOR SUPERVISION OF MALE CLIENTS.

Working Conditions:
Potential risk from juvenile actions. Incumbents must be willing to accept changes in geographic assignment (in regards to the Albuquerque facilities, in which there may be instances that the position could be moved from one facility to the other if needed. There are currently 4 facilities within the Albuquerque area) and be willing to work shifts, overtime, holidays, weekends and call back for emergencies. Incumbents must have a telephone and be willing to give the phone number to the supervisor. Some statewide travel may be required.
