Lifeguard

Requires current Lifeguard Certification Including CPR/AED/First Aid.  American Red Cross, YMCA or Ellis certification is acceptable.  Must be 16 years old by June 1, 2018.  Screening process includes a written test, water skills test and interview with Park System Aquatic Staff.   Beach hours are 11:00AM - 7:00PM daily.  Additional hours expected for mandatory in-service training sessions before and after each beach hours.

The Waukesha County Park System Lifeguards staff four beach locations.  
* Fox Brook Park in Brookfield
* Menomonee Park ("Lannon Quarry") in Lannon/Menomonee Falls area
* Muskego Park
* Naga-Waukee Park (on Lake Nagawicka) in Hartland/Delafield area

• Effectively convey rules and expectations to beach patrons consistent with County policies and procedures, and positively reinforce behaviors.
• Be prepared to react to an emergency situation and become familiar with emergency action plans.
• Attend all in-service training programs and be aware of all facility policies and procedures.
• Inspect beach area prior to and after the completion of patron use to minimize and eliminate hazards.
• Ensure all emergency equipment is readily available, and the beach area is safe.

* Lifeguard Training Certification required, including CPR-Pro and AED (if you are currently enrolled in class, we will accept application but you must provide your class dates and instructor name)  Waukesha County Park System will be offering a free lifeguard certification course mid may for candidates that meet the minimum swimming requirements.
* Good customer service skills.
* Ability to use good judgment and to respond quickly.
* Ability to work well as a team and maintain a good working relationship with co-workers, supervisors, other County park personnel, and the public.
* Ability to follow verbal and/or written instructions.
* Ability to work under stress and handle stressful situations.
* Available to work 20 to 40 hours per week, varying shifts including weekends.

Beach Hours are 11:00am - 7:00pm daily, weather permitting.  Beach season begins June 2nd and ends in late August. Staff training and orientation begins Tuesday, May 22nd.

As a bonus, candidates that have not completed lifeguard certification will receive free training as part of the hiring process. The sponsored lifeguard training session will be held mid-May for candidates that meet the minimum swimming requirements.  If you have any questions contact...
