Job Responsibilities

Under general supervision of the Upward Bound Director, the Upward Bound Coordinator will assist with the development, academic coordination, advising and implementation of the Upward Bound Program.  The Upward Bound Coordinator is responsible for assisting in the implementation of the goals presented in the Upward Bound Coordinator grant and planning, developing, designing, implementing, refining, and evaluating educational, career, social, and cultural activities for the program.  Provides academic advisement and student support services to low-income, first middle school and high school students.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

A Bachelor's degree.

Preferred Qualifications

A Master's degree in guidance and counseling, student personnel, student services, education or other related fields.  Minimum of two (2) years of related work experience in the delivery of services in an educational outreach program. Prior TRIO experience is preferred.

Additional Comments

Excellent interpersonal, organization, and communication skills are required.  Knowledge of computerized database information software, admissions and financial aid process, and careers and job and labor market needs is desired.  Knowledge and experience working with economically, and educationally disadvantaged youth.  Problem solving and great listening skills.  Experience in a counseling/advising role in a secondary school or college setting.
