The Gwinnett County Department of Support Services includes the divisions of Facilities Management, Fleet Management, Real Estate and Records Management, and Fiscal and Solid Waste Management.

The HVAC work group of the Operations and Maintenance section of the Facilities Management division is responsible for operations, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of equipment, monitoring/operating HVAC control systems, replacement and installation services of new equipment and parts on HVAC systems, and overseeing service contractors performing these duties on more than 200 individual buildings comprising over 2.5 million square feet of space throughout the County. The HVAC work group performs thousands of preventive maintenance tasks annually and responds to an average of 900 reactive service requests yearly.
 
This job is a safety sensitive position that will require a pre-employment drug test and subsequent random drug and alcohol testing in accordance with Gwinnett County Drug and Alcohol Free Workplace.

This position may require 24-hour on-call assignment, overtime or working nights, weekends, and/or holidays.


Minimum Qualifications:
    HVAC Controls Tech
    The Grade for this position is B25(3).
      • High School Diploma or G.E.D.;
      • Four years of progressively responsible residential or commercial HVAC experience;
      • or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above;
      • Georgia HVAC Class I Restricted license;
      • Valid Georgia Drivers' License.
      HVAC Controls Tech, Sr.
      The Grade for this position is C41(3).
      • High School Diploma or G.E.D.;
      • Six years of progressively responsible residential and commercial HVAC experience;
      • or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above;
      • Georgia HVAC Class II Unrestricted license;
      • Valid Georgia Drivers' License.
