Job Responsibilities
- The Department of Mental Health is a drug-free workplace. All candidates will be required to pass a mandatory pre-employment drug test.
This position is located within the Division of Inpatient Services' at G. Werber Bryan Psychiatric Hospital - Adult and Forensics Department.
Under the supervision of the Activity Therapy Supervisor, functions as the Activity Therapist II. Plans, organizes, coordinates, conducts and implements a comprehensive, multi-discipline program of goal oriented referral groups and leisure activities/events that meet the recovery needs of patients admitted to an acute care facility.

Minimum and Additional Requirements
State Requirement: A high school diploma and relevant program experience. A bachelor's degree may be submitted for the required program experience. Must have a valid SC driver's license.
Note: If any Agency Requirements are listed above, applicants must also meet those requirements to be considered for the position. Salary may vary depending on experience and qualifications.Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Requirement: A master's degree in Recreation with emphasis in Therapeutics, Art Therapy, Music Therapy, Horticulture Therapy, or Bibliotherapy and one (1) year of experience in the corresponding field of therapy; or a bachelor's degree in Recreation with emphasis in Therapeutics, Music Therapy, Art Therapy, Horticulture Therapy or Bibliotherapy and two (2) years' experience in the corresponding field of therapy (the curriculum for these degrees must include a period of supervised clinical field experience of no less than three months); or a master's degree in Recreation, Physical Education, (a degree other an English Literature or Library Science is acceptable for Bibliotherapists if it includes 18 hours of English Literature or Library Science and two (2) years of experience in the corresponding field of therapy; or a bachelor's degree in one (1) of the above fields and three (3) years of experience in the corresponding field of therapy.
