Position Summary
Position responsible for planning, organizing, overseeing, and coordinating daily activities of IMPD fixed assets unit. Makes frequent contact with government agencies and private organizations in an effort to acquire surplus property. Store and transport property to fulfill the needs of the department.
Position Responsibilities
Direct supervision of staff. Responsible for staff development and evaluations.
Manage acquisition of surplus property.
Coordinate purchasing activities, meet, and communicate with current or potential vendors. Perform follow-up with vendors as needed.
Plan and coordinate location of Indianapolis Police Department's fixed assets. Plan and document future inventory needs, policies, and procedures.
Oversee the maintenance of fixed asset property.
Recommend and implement service of Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department's fixed assets.
Provide information from fixed asset database (i.e., property value for service agreements and insurance).
Assures compliance with local, state and federal requirements.

Qualifications
Associates Degree, preferably with courses in property management and material handling, and at least three (3) years of related experience is required. Any combination of related education and work experience totaling five (5) years or more is acceptable. Must be able to move or lift items up to seventy-five (75) lbs or greater. Prior supervisory experience is desired.
Independent Judgment
Established policies and procedures control actions. Limited independent judgment is utilized when there are no available policies and procedures and errors in judgment may cause inconsistencies, inconveniences as well as legal and budgetary problems.
