Purpose
This position is responsible for the operation of assigned heavy equipment.
Essential Job Functions
Operates and maintains heavy motorized equipment.
Operates street sweeper and dump trucks.
Completes route sheets and daily reports.
Inspects equipment before use to ensure necessary repairs are made.
Inspects job sites for possible hazards.
Responds to customer inquiries and refers customer complaints to supervisor.
Ensures proper equipment maintenance; performs minor repairs as necessary.
Performs other related duties as assigned.Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or GED; with two years of heavy equipment operation and maintenance experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Must possess a valid commercial driver's license.
Additional RequirementsBackground investigation, including supervised drug screen, post offer/pre-employment medical screen; a motor vehicle report will be conducted, and driving history must meet the standards outlined by the City of Savannah; and verification of education, certifications, and licenses required prior to employment. The final score on this examination will consist of a rating of education and experience, plus veterans' preference points, if eligible. The names of all competitors rated eligible for appointment will be placed on the proper register according to their final scores.
Must be able to work Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, 8:00 PM – 6:00 AM with overtime as requiredAdditional Information
