Overview

Employment Status:  Full-time, probationary, "non-exempt" position.

Work Schedule:  Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Typical Activities

Under the immediate supervision of the Career-level Information Technology Consultant of the School of Computer Science and Engineering and the Department of Mathematics, the incumbent will assist with end-user consultation, and lab consultation and coordination for the Departments of Computer Science and Engineering and Mathematics.
  • The incumbent will assist other technical staff in providing support, innovative approaches and technologies to students, staff, and faculty.
  • The incumbent will assist in the planning, implementation and management of various operating systems, network platforms, and internet related protocols.
  • The incumbent will assist faculty in integrating information technology into their curricula and participate in software development in support of the College's information technology requirements.
  • The incumbent will assist in working with Linux server, Windows desktop (primary), and Macintosh; VMWare virtualization, Windows OS, Mac OS X, Virtual desktop; MS Office Suites; Maple; WebWork; MatLab; Mathematica; gaming development tools; Xilinx FPGA synthesis tool, SPICE, microcontrollers; other Engineering related hardware and software; various technologies and tools as necessary.
  • The incumbent will inventory, inspect, maintain, and troubleshoot engineering lab equipment/devices.
  • The incumbent will assist in performing regular inspections and problem identification in classroom technology systems and will assist with special events and presentations.
  • The incumbent will help maintain equipment and systems, and perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must have the equivalent of a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering, the latter is preferred.

  • A basic knowledge of computer science and engineering is required.
  • Basic working knowledge of operating systems and scripting languages is required.
  • The ability to organize assignments, and meet deadlines is required, along with the ability to work cooperatively with a diverse group of people.
  • Applicant must possess well-developed communication and customer service skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
Basic troubleshoot/maintenance skills of engineering equipment/devices such as Arduino series, Xilinx FPGA, NI Elvis, RaspberryPi, soldering etc. are preferred.
