Job Description

 Purpose of Position:

This position will assist the Revenue Planning Bureau in developing and maintaining econometric models used for forecasting revenue; track revenue and monitor economic trends; produce tax policy analysis, legislative analysis and policy recommendations; research tax policy questions; prepare monthly and annual federal reports; take an active role in evaluating tax policy of the executive and legislative branches.   
 
This position is a Pay Band 80.
 
THIS POSTING WILL BE USED TO CONDUCT ONGOING RECRUITMENT AND WILL REMAIN OPEN UNTIL POSITION HAS BEEN FILLED.

The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate should have a background in economics and econometrics, and should have experience in modeling econometric models in statistical software such as STATA or SAS. Additional capabilities and experiences concerning public policy evaluation, reporting to and communicating with stakeholders and policy-makers, managing and organizing large datasets are preferred.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Economics, Statistics or Business Administration and four (4) years of experience in database manipulation, statistical analysis or spreadsheet and/or statistical software usage.  Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling eight (8) years may substitute for the required education and experience.
 
Employment Requirements:
Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Driver's License. Business reference check and Driver's License verification are required and employment is conditional pending results.

Working Conditions:
Work is performed primarily in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer to include working with computers, faxes, copiers, printers and phone usage. Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. Travel throughout the state and occasional out of state may be required.
