Job Summary

Consider joining the leadership team for the City of San Bernardino's Community Development Department!The City of San Bernardino is seeking an experienced manager to lead the development, management, and coordination of policies and programs for the Building & Safety Division.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in the enforcement of construction and land use regulations, building permit processing and inspection and municipal code enforcement. The position involves implementation of division goals, objectives and work plans, and managing, evaluating and overseeing day-to-day division activities.

Education, Training and Experience:
A typical way of obtaining the knowledge, skills and abilities outlined above is two (2) years of college/university or technical school training. Seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in enforcement of construction and land use regulations, building permit processing and inspection, municipal code enforcement, and at least two (2) years which were in a supervisory capacity; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.Accreditation shall be by a national or regional accreditation body that is recognized by the Secretary of the United States Department of Education.
Licenses; Certificates; Special Requirements:
A valid California class C driver's license and the ability to maintain insurability under the City's vehicle insurance policy.A valid PC 832 certification at time of employment or ability to obtain within one year of employment. A valid certification as Building or Combination Inspector and Plans Examiner.
Certification as a Building Official by International Code Council must be obtained within 12 months of hiring.
