Job Responsibilities

Supervises and coordinates activities of the Media Operations department, Studio Services department and the Engineering Maintenance department.  Works with other state agencies, schools, business, etc as well as other SCETV departments to plan and coordinate technical support of SCETV television and radio production activities.  Oversees the technical resources required in producing programming including production studio facilities, signal routing, recording (formats and archiving), web streaming, IT networking and personnel requirements.

Collaborates with staff of Content, Continuing Education, Programming, and ETV external customers in the planning (inception through completion) of appropriate processes and technical resources required in producing programming including production studio facilities, signal routing, recording (formats and archiving), web streaming, editing facilities, ISO records, backhauls, interactive audio/video,  IT networking and personnel requirements.

Supervises the daily operations of the Engineering Maintenance shop, Media Operations, Radio Engineering and Technical Management areas.  Performs administrative duties as required.

Participates actively in program production technical management as necessary.  Supervise, provides training and evaluates performance of AV technicians.  Schedules staff and equipment utilizing the ScheduAll scheduling program, as well as, entering data for equipment used and staff time devoted to the assigned task.  Assist in the training of studio personnel in the operation of studio/remote production equipment.  Emphasize the SCETV SOP on Fax procedures prior to all productions.

Collaborates with Engineering Management staff in the design of technical facilities.

Oversees and coordinates evaluations of facilities and/or recorded signals in order to assure that SCETV, FCC, PBS, SMPTE technical requirements are met.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

A bachelor's degree and experience in the management of technical resources.

Preferred Qualifications

A bachelor's degree and five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in the management of technical resources with supervisory skills or equivalent education, training or experience.
 
PREFERRED, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Thorough knowledge of ATSC, EIA and SMPTE television standards.  Thorough knowledge of FCC and PBS television broadcast standards and best practices.  Thorough knowledge of studio, remote and post-production television production techniques.  Effective writing and verbal communication skills.  Ability to supervise effectively.
