Wastewater Plant Industrial Technician

This position is responsible for performing a variety of skilled tasks including: monitoring, troubleshooting, diagnosing, maintaining, installing, repairing and/or replacing electrical equipment, instruments and process equipment at the wastewater treatment plant, sewage lift stations and water booster stations. The technician evaluates and corrects equipment malfunctions, maintains record of modifications done to any equipment, and responds to and resolves any equipment or process-related emergencies.

• Troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, procure, install new, defective and replacement components on all wastewater treatment plant process equipment and pump stations
• Undertake preventive and predictive maintenance by performing the recommended inspection, testing, cleaning and analyzing of operating data to identify any equipment problems
• Calibrate, maintain and operate all electric and pneumatic control devices, flow measuring and pump control devices
• Install, debug, troubleshoot, calibrate and replace defective equipment, sensors, monitoring and measuring equipment including pressure, temperature and flow measuring devices
• Reprogram Programmable Logic Controllers as necessary due to equipment failure, power loss or power surges
• Repair, replace or make improvements to lighting equipment, power outlets, ventilation equipment and heaters installed throughout the wastewater plant complex and offsite pump station facilities
• Identify, locate and establish communication with equipment manufacturers, vendors and technical specialists to seek assistance to resolve equipment related issues
• Install, maintain, troubleshoot, repair and replace low voltage (110 volt, 220 volt and 440 volt, 3 phase) electrical equipment, pump motor control equipment, motor drives, motor control centers, motor operated valves and different wet well pump control systems
• Maintain detailed records of maintenance, repairs, improvements and modifications made to existing systems, equipment and processes; update existing record drawings as changes are made
• Research and obtain specifications for the purchase of specialized tools, test equipment needed for the overall maintenance of electrical and electronic equipment located at various facilities
• Diagnose and repair any malfunctioning electrical equipment, powering and controlling, pumps, motors, air compressors, air blowers, sludge transfer and feed equipment
• Monitor and coordinate with fleet the weekly testing and maintenance of the emergency standby generators at the plant and pump stations
• Perform other duties as assigned

• Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with completion of specialized training in the field of work, in addition to basic skills typically associated with a high school education
• Sufficient experience to thoroughly understand the basic principles relevant to the position and to be able to answer questions and resolve problems, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship, internship and a minimum of three years of relevant experience in the maintenance and repair of electrical, electronic and instrumentation systems
• Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license issued by the State of Oklahoma for the type of vehicle or equipment operated • Possession of or ability to obtain an ODEQ issued class C Wastewater Operator License within one year
