High School Diploma or GED, three (3) years of professional level work experience in recreation or job coaching; experience with orthopedically disabled individuals in a residential setting.
Job Concepts
Incumbent is responsible for the implementation and delivery of services in the area of recreation and vocational training in the Transitional Family Life Center. Employee must be able to perform these assigned duties without significant risk of substantial harm to his/her own safety/security and the safety/security of others.
Examples of Work
- Performance Responsibilities:
- Assist in the implementation and delivery of services in job training and recreational activities to the residents in a Group Home Setting.
- Will supervise the recreational programs of each resident including but not limited to daily, weekly, and monthly documentation.
- Coordinate all on-campus recreational activities after school and on weekends.
- Coordinate all community activities, resources, and volunteer services needed for effectively accomplishing recreation objectives.
- Will have functional supervision over Residential Services Specialist 3 staff assigned to recreational activities.
- Will have functional supervision with the evening and weekend supervision of the Residential Services Specialist 3.
- Will continually study and analyze the needs in the area of Recreation.
- Will assist with establishing and promoting good Center-Community relations.
- Plan for the economic use of utilities, supplies and equipment.
- Maintain a personal appearance compatible with the dignity of the position.
- Participates in self-development activities, such as active membership in professional organizations, attendance at meetings, conferences, workshops and seminars whenever possible.
- Create and maintain a physical environment that is conducive to appropriate recreational activities.
- Perform functional supervisory duties as assigned and/or designated by the Supervisor.
III. Transitional Inclusive- Assist in the maintenance and implementation of all services provided to the assigned residents
- Assume responsibility for the delivery of services to the residents assigned in accordance with their Individualized Program Plan.
- Assist in the process of assembling vocational, job and teaching materials as needed.
- Complete daily routines including but not limited to bulletin boards, record keeping and distribution of materials.
- Operate audio-visual equipment, computers and other machines as directed by the Supervisor.
- Act as driver/facilitator for residents who participate in community-based on-site training programs; requires a CDL and must be willing to take and pass the driver's course.
- Accompany residents to and from job sites and training activities.
- Will maintain accurate attendance, financial and other records.
- Will maintain reports relating to recreation services provided to assigned residents.
- Will hold every resident to a strict accountability for any disorderly conduct on the campus or en route to and from the Group Home and/or Center-sponsored activities.
- Will monitor and report the behavior problems if individual residents in accordance with Center, State and Federal guidelines.
- Sick or Injured Residents:
- Will report the illness or injury of any resident to the Nurse Manager, Director of Health Services or the Nurse on duty.
- Will notify the Director of all serious accidents of residents on and off campus.
V. Records, Reports Finance
A. Records and reports required by Board, State and Federal regulations:
1. Will maintain appropriate resident files.
2. Will assist the Director with the budget appropriations for recreation.
B. Purchase of Materials:
1. Will submit purchase requests to the Director prior to submission to the School Business Manager.
C. Use and Care of Material:
1. Will maintain accurate inventories of all supplies and equipment in assigned areas.
2. Will plan for the efficient economical use of materials and equipment.
3. Will provide for the proper maintenance of equipment and materials.
VI. PersonnelWill maintain a safe physical environment. And report all accidents promptly.
VII. Transportation
Will be responsible for the organization, functional supervision and implementation of- transportation to provide for the needs of the total recreation and vocational programs.
- Will be responsible for keeping accurate records as they pertain to the use of TFLC vehicles for recreation and vocational activities.
VIII. Miscellaneous- Will follow Federal, State Board and Center policies.
- Will maintain a flexible working schedule (including evenings and weekends) as assigned by the Director that allows for functional supervision and implementation of the total recreation and vocational program for TFLC.
