Basic Function

Promotes and markets City of Grapevine Convention Center and hotel and meeting facilities to potential users.

Nature & Scope

Under limited direction and supervision, performs sales and promotional efforts designed to generate and develop revenue and fees from all existing Grapevine hotels, meeting facilities, attractions, and festivals and events. Duties include:
 
1.         Implement sales and promotional plans and strategies to solicit through written and
            verbal methods various groups, organizations, corporations, etc. for the purpose of
            developing potential hotel and/or facility, attractions, etc users, with focus on regional,
            national and international markets.
 
2.         Implement sales prospecting efforts targeted primarily at bringing prospective business
            users to Grapevine hotels, meeting facilities, attractions, or festivals and events.
 
3.         Under direction of immediate supervisor, exhibit at trade shows promoting Grapevine's convention facilities and services, hotels, meeting areas, visitor attractions, etc.
 
4.         Develop and conduct personal sales missions with a focus on the regional market,
            referrals, and repeat business.  
 
5.         Maintain product knowledge by frequent site visits and regular liaisons with industry
            partners. 
 
6.         Maintain records and reports on prospective leads and sales activities for additional
            sales efforts and contacts.
 
7.         Develop and prepare sales call reports, leads and correspondence for potential and
            established clients and follow up through planned marketing efforts, bid packets and
            direct mail campaigns.
 
8.         Attend and participate in CVB department and hotel sales meetings.
 
9.         Maintain a close working relationship with hotel sales and service staff and mentors
            sales support staff.

Required Skills

Requires a 4-year college degree with 3-4 years sales and marketing experience in hotels, convention centers, convention and visitor bureaus or associations or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
Above average reading and math skills. Excellent writing and presentation skills. Knowledge of marketing and sales theories, principles and practices.
Computer skills to include Microsoft Word and sales database management. Flexibility and overnight travel required.
Must pass a credit check and have a valid Texas driver's license with an acceptable driving record as defined by city policy.
