Purpose of Position:
This position will provide direct supervision to Licensed Practical Nurses, Licensed Vocational Nurses (LPN/LVN) and Nursing Aides assigned to their units. The incumbent will provide on-going training, ensure physicians' orders are carried out and ensure that staff is consistently delivering care as described in the residents' Plan of Care in a manner that is compassionate and nurturing.
THIS POSTING WILL BE USED TO CONDUCT ONGOING RECRUITMENT AND WILL REMAIN OPEN UNTIL ALL POSITIONS HAVE BEEN FILLED.
This position is a Pay Band 55.Classification Description
Minimum Qualifications
Accredited Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) program graduate, and current licensure in good standing from the New Mexico Board of Nursing.
Employment Requirements:
This position is designated safety sensitive. Employment is subject to pre-employment and random testing, in accordance with all terms and conditions of federal and state law, rules and regulations in relation to alcohol and/or drug testing. Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Successful completion of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA) training.
Statutory Requirements:
All applicants for this position must be licensed in accordance with the Nursing Practice Act § 61-3-2 through 61-3-31 NMSA 1978 and 16.12.1 through 16.12.20 NMAC, as applicable.

Working Conditions:
This position will perform services in a facility and in an office setting using related office equipment, with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Walking, standing, bending and lifting using proper lifting and transfer techniques may be required. Moderate noise, stressful situations, exposure to chemical sensitivity from repeated use of latex gloves, disinfectant agents, dressings, and medications may occur. Working with individuals who exhibit unpredictable, physically and/or verbally aggressive behavior in stressful situations may be required. Working hours may include weekends, holiday, callbacks and mandatory overtime. Essential functions of the job and physical ability requirements will be available at the time of interview or may be obtained at the New Mexico Veterans' Home Human Resources Office.
