Transportation Specialist (PT)

This position is responsible for the operation, routine maintenance and safety of passengers while operating county vehicles.

 MUST POSSESS VALID GEORGIA CDL.

Transports citizens each day using county vehicles and wheel chair lifts; performs daily routine check of all vehicle fluids; inspects all vehicle functions and maintains a service log of recordings; provides regular cleaning both inside and outside of vehicle; ensures that passengers are transported safely by following all State Laws (including use of seat belts); completes daily logs which entails passenger pick-ups, addresses, mileage, passenger destination, vehicle operating hours, pick up and drop off times, and fares collected; assists with special projects including weekends and evenings when necessary; attends and participates in required job related meetings, training sessions and seminars; maintains up-to-date certification in driver safety course, basic first aid, CPR and PASS training; performs related duties as required.

Graduation from High School or GED equivalent.

Possession of a valid Georgia CDL with passenger endorsement.

Minimum age of 21.

Five (5) years driving experience, with some experience operating a multi-passenger vehicle.

An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered.

Knowledge of state laws regarding vehicle operation and demonstrates proper safety driving skills; knowledge of additional safety guidelines set by county and department; knowledge of preventive maintenance requirements for vehicles; knowledge of map reading and geography of Henry County; basic knowledge of the Atlanta metro area; knowledge of basic first aid, CPR and Pass training; skill in operating a vehicle (including wheelchair lift) and driving the vehicle; skill in oral and written communications and demonstrates effectiveness in interpersonal relations; appropriate customer service skills dealing with a wide range of people.
