Equipment Operator I (Storm Water)

This position is responsible for operating a variety of light equipment and vehicles in addition to performing manual labor on a storm water construction or maintenance crew.  Moderately heavy equipment may be driven on an assignment or temporary basis.  Incumbent may be required to perform emergency call-back duty.  

Operates landscape and maintenance equipment such as tractor with a bush hog or landscape box attachment; drives a small dump truck, a pick-up truck, or a flat-bed truck to deliver materials or tools to job sites; operates light construction or maintenance equipment such as a skid steer, jack hammer and power saw; performs manual labor work such as shoveling asphalt and dirt, laying pipes, building culverts and bridges; removes trash, limbs and debris from job sites, culverts, creeks, drainage areas; serves as a flagger on assigned projects; performs related work as required.

Graduation from High School or GED Equivalent.

Knowledge of the operation and maintenance techniques to public works equipment; skill in the operation and application of hand and power tools; skill in performing heavy manual labor; skill in understanding and following routine verbal instructions and in driving and operating assigned equipment and vehicles.
