Description

Hennepin County Hennepin Health is seeking an IT Extract, Transform and Load (ETL) Senior Developer to build an Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) allowing reports, analytics and applications to function and scale with the needs of the business. This position requires experience with data modeling and data management development in various platforms and tools, and will be adept at translating business requirements into data stores that can be used to support production reports, analytics and applications, plus have a strong understanding of data strategy and development, and handling administrator functions. This position will play a key role on the Data Strategy team and will consistently deliver high quality deliverables with careful attention to detail.

The primary duties and responsibilities of this position includes:

Partner with other competency leads/developers and support project planning, technical design, development and solution deployment functions.
Write code to perform business logic/rules on source/target data to create expected output per business requirement documents.
Develop automated routines capable of replacing existing manual data update processes.
Develop and document best practices for ETL related operations and processes.
Build Visio diagrams for system and data process flows.
Analyze data in source/target to look for data quality problems and write code to fix data quality issues; work with QA staff to develop, implement, and document tests plans for ETL and data integration processes.
Identify opportunities in business processes, system capabilities and delivery methodologies for continuous improvement as applicable; define and implement relational structures, dimensional data marts/models and cubes for the needs of analytics, reporting and application usage.
Monitor scheduled ETL jobs; help the production support team to resolve ETL batch failures.
Provide guidance in the creation, design and maintenance of the enterprise data warehouse.
Build employee knowledge and skills in specific areas of expertise.

Best Qualified Candidates will have:

One of the following:
- A bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, management information systems (MIS), or closely related field, and five years or more at a technical IT level position.
- An associate's degree in computer science, MIS, or closely related field, and seven years or more at a technical IT level position.
- An approved certification in an IT program and seven years or more at a technical IT level position.
- Nine or more years at a technical IT level position.
Five or more years of strong SQL development experience on data warehouse projects.
Five or more years of ETL experience working with Microsoft SSIS creating complex packages and expressions.
Four or more years of strong data warehouse data validation testing experience.
Three or more years as a strong technical writer developing standard operating procedures, solution design documents, data mapping documents, data models and technical diagrams.
Preferred experience:
- In the healthcare industry or medical claims experience.
- With business intelligence and reporting tools: Microsoft SSRS, Crystal Reports and Webby tools.
- As a technical lead for a major technology implementation.
- With Tivoli, Tumbleweed and SFTP.
