Nature of Work

Coconino County Education Service Agency (CCESA) is seeking qualified service providers to be temporary on-call employees with the CCESA to provide county schools with special eduation services.
Individual will function as a school special education teacher to assist in the identification, evaluation, placement, and instruction of special needs children as defined by IDEA.

Note: Services are to be provided within the geographical area of Coconino County.

Typical Duties

  • Implement the educational program and comprehensive related services as outlined in the student's Individual Education Plan (IEP)
  • Provide an instructional program closely related to and coordinated with the regular program so that all students meet and exceed the State Core Curriculum Content standards as outlined in the Student's IEP, modifying methods and materials as needed
  • Maintain records indicating progress of the student in achieving the objectives of teh IEP and assist with the evaluation and assessment of students
  • Communicate regularly with regular education teachers when a child is mainstreamed and assist with providing appropriate instruction and with modifying when needed instructional practices to accommodate the needs and learning styles of the child
  • Communicate regularly with the parents to nurture a supportive and cooperative relationship between home and school
  • Assist student who is physically challenged with movement to participate in activities or with other physical needs, when necessary
  • Establish the schedule, role, responsibilities, and expectations for the paraprofessional assigned to assist the teacher
  • Assist the professional staff through individual consultation and/or staff development sessions with understanding the needs of exceptional students and with strategies and approaches in dealing with problems in learning, behavior or adjustment
Essential functions include: driving, sitting, working with and around others, working with interruptions, repetitive motion (hand/wrist, elbow/shoulder), vision acuity (near/far) for computer work, hearing and speech for ordinary conversation, touch/finger dexterity for typing and data entry.

Minimum Qualifications

Must possess an Arizona Special education Teaching license with a Cross-Categorical K-12 Endorsement; must also hod and maintain a valid fingerprint clearance card issued by the Arizona Department of Public Safety.

Must obtain an Arizona's Driver's license by date of hire and maintain it throughout employment. Final Job offer is contingent upon a satisfactory 5-year Arizona motor-vehicle report.

Note: Individuals in exempt classifications as part time employees may be classified as non-exempt per FLSA law regarding minimum weekly salary requirements.
