Nature of Work
Coconino County Education Service Agency (CCESA) is seeking qualified service providers to be temporary on-call employees with the CCESA to provide county schools with school counseling services.
The counselor will evaluate students' problems and provide individual and group counseling services to assist individuals in achieving more effective personal, social, educational, and vocational development and adjustment to support school success.
Note: Services are to be provided within the geographical area of Coconino County.Typical Duties
- Functioning as a school counselor to counsel with students in individual or group settings in assigned schools based on treatment plan goals;
- Implementing related service counseling per eligible special education students' Individualized Education Plans;
- Contributing expertise in emotional and behavior change to the special education team; Identifying and evaluating students with disabilities and special needs
- Evaluating students to determine need for counseling services through the use of case history, interview, and observation;
- Developing treatment plans for targeted behavior change;
- Participating in conferences with school staff members and parents relative to test findings and their interpretation;
- Attending MET/I.E.P. conferences and make appropriate recommendations;
- Complying with all IDEA regulations and Arizona Revised Statutes §§ 15-765–767; and
- Assisting teachers and administrators in maintaining compliance with State and Federal mandates relative to special education.
Minimum Qualifications
Master's degree in social work or counseling from an accredited program; appropriate licensure through the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners to perform required duties.
The ideal Candidate will be detail oriented, have strong communication skills; is a team player; has IEP experience; and school experience.
Preferences: Five years experience counseling children; skill in coaching; successful experience as a school counselor.
Must obtain an Arizona's Driver's license by date of hire and maintain it throughout employment. Final Job offer is contingent upon a satisfactory 5-year Arizona motor-vehicle report.
