Purpose
This position is responsible for the development and review of stormwater and sediment and erosion control plans.
Essential Job Functions
Reviews the design of private development projects to ensure compliance with city and design standards; makes recommendations to consultants and designers concerning project compliance; answers questions and provides information regarding projects and standards; attends meetings with developers and consultants; investigates complaints and petitions.
Reviews, manages, and coordinates capital improvement projects; inspects construction; completes site visits prior to review design work; coordinates with assigned construction inspectors; provides advice and guidance to contractors and consultants; prepares correspondence and reports related to projects.
Reviews design documents; coordinates design requirements with city departments and design consultants; attends pre-construction and final inspection meetings.
Reviews as-built documents and updates the computerized system.
Evaluates analysis completed by consultants.
Prepares engineering agreements with consultants for capital improvement program projects.
Reviews and updates stormwater management ordinances; reviews and updates standard construction details; reviews and updates erosion and sedimentation control ordinances; reviews and updates flood zone ordinances.
Manages payments to contractors and monitors project costs.
Participates in post-event emergency response activities.
Performs other related duties as assigned.Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, or Engineering Technology; with three years of experience in civil engineering, engineering management design and/or construction inspection; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Must possess' a valid driver's license. Must be registered as a Professional Engineer in Georgia or obtain registration within six (6) months of employment.
