Description

The Henry County Fire Department is seeking Certified Firefighter/Paramedics for upcoming Fast Track Classes. Successful candidates will go through an abbreviated orientation to the Fire Department.

This position is responsible for administering appropriate emergency medical treatment to victims of accidents and other life-threatening situations, performing firefighting tasks, maintaining emergency medical equipment/vehicles, and assisting with emergency medical training.

 

Examples of Duties

Render emergency and lifesaving medical assistance to those in need; respond to fires, emergency medical, and other life-threatening situations; administer medication to victims on-site and in transit to medical facility if necessary and as approved by the medical director and/or doctor; transport injured or sick person to appropriate care facility; extricate victims of accidents when necessary; prepare and complete required reports and logs including patient care reports; respond to fire alarms and medical calls and performs duties of a firefighter and paramedic; supervise and direct emergency medical technicians at emergency sites; ensure the proper functioning of all emergency medical equipment and vehicles through regular checks; ensure adequate inventory supply aboard emergency medical vehicles through regular checks; orders supplies and medication; maintains current state certification through continuing education; assist training personnel with emergency medical and firefighting training of firefighters and emergency medical technicians; perform related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from high school or GED equivalent. Candidate must be a Georgia Certified Firefighter, NPQ Firefighter II, and a Georgia certified Paramedic with three years of continuous fire service experience immediately prior to application.  Must have current Georgia Class "B" or "F" driver's license. 

Knowledge, Skill, Abilities/ Supplemental Information

Knowledge of basic and advanced emergency medical and life-sustaining techniques including cardiac care, trauma and shock care, ventilation and other CPR techniques; knowledge of basic algebra, pharmacology and chemistry for the administration of drug modalities; knowledge of medical terminology; knowledge of state and Henry County fire fighting and life rescue procedures and practices; knowledge of the geography of Henry County and the road system; skill in driving, emergency and otherwise; skill in the administration of emergency medical techniques and in the use of specialized equipment associated with advanced life support; skill in extrication techniques and patient assessment; skill in dealing with emergency situations and victims of trauma;skill in performing general mechanical maintenance; skill and dexterity in operating emergency vehicles, specialized emergency medical equipment, fire equipment, and specialized life rescue equipment.
