Description
The Henry County Fire Department is seeking Certified Firefighter/EMT's for upcoming Fast Track Classes. Successful candidates will go through an abbreviated orientation to the Fire Department.
This position is responsible for administering appropriate emergency medical treatment to victims of accidents and other life-threatening situations, performing firefighting tasks, maintaining fire equipment/vehicles, and completing certification requirements.Examples of Duties
Render emergency and lifesaving medical assistance to those in need; respond to life threatening, fire, and emergency medical situations; perform the duties and tasks of a certified firefighter; assess, treat, and transport injured or sick persons to appropriate care facility; extricate victims of accidents when necessary; maintain fire equipment, vehicles and fire station; ensure the proper functioning of all emergency medical equipment and vehicles through regular inspection; prepares and completes required reports and logs including PCR reports; participates in department training and certification classes; maintain current state certification through continuing education; performs related duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from High school or GED equivalent. Candidate must be a Georgia Basic Firefighter, NPQ Firefighter II, and a Georgia certified AEMT or EMT-I with three years of and continuous fire service experience immediately prior to application. Must have current Georgia Class "B" or "F" driver's license.
Knowledge, Skill, Abilities/ Supplemental Information
Knowledge of basic emergency medical and life-sustaining techniques including cardiac care, trauma and shock care, ventilation and other CPR techniques; knowledge of medical terminology; knowledge of state and Henry County fire fighting and life rescue procedures and practices; knowledge of the geography of Henry County and the road system; skill in driving, emergency and otherwise; skill in the administration of emergency medical techniques and in patient assessment; skill in dealing with emergency situations and victims of trauma; skill in performing general mechanical maintenance; skill in dexterity in operating fire and emergency vehicles, specialized emergency medical equipment, fire equipment and apparatus including ladders, hoses, pumps, and specialized life rescue equipment.
