Employment Status: Full-time, regular "exempt" position, included in the Management Personnel Plan (MPP).

Under the general direction of the Director of the Career Center, the Assistant Director will monitor the daily operations of the department and regularly monitor department workflow, staffing levels, program procedures and impact of office-wide services/activities. Typically activities include, but are not limited to:
- Incumbent will regularly review department program objectives and will assist with establishing program priorities based on needs of CSUSB students and alumni.
- Incumbent will supervise, train, schedule meetings/work shifts and monitor the activities of student assistants who support peer-to-peer programming, career educators/advising team and evaluate them on their performance on a regular basis.
- Incumbent will regularly work with university faculty and coordinate college-specific outreach, customized seminars/workshops/programs among the Career Counselors based on student needs assessments and faculty requests.
- Incumbent will develop a system to conduct program assessments through electronic communications, direct mail and through telecommunications to ensure program effectiveness.
- Incumbent will support the Director of the Career Center in strategic planning, goal settings, and overall branding of the Career Center that support high impact programs. The Assistant Director will regularly collaborate with marketing staff to increase interest and program participation through support delivery of department campaigns, marketing and branding.
- Incumbent will participate and/or lead development of learning outcomes for various team projects (career counseling, employer relations, internships and special events) that support the department's mission, vision, and core values.
- Incumbent will be responsible for creating/developing departmental progress reports to present to interested stakeholders. Reports will aim to measure and analyze client learning outcomes and program effectiveness.
- Run regular reports (using department database, strategically manage external partner contacts, analyze data for the various services offered by the Career Center or other tools as needed/assigned). Develop/provide summary reports monthly and quarterly to the Director of the Career Center regarding (Career Center usage, internships obtained, employer recruitment initiatives through visits and full time hires, campus visits as well as internal specialized programming that is being delivered by the Career Center.) Provide analysis and guidance about program and policy revision, and work to constantly improve services to students. Incumbent will be responsible to develop/implement department procedures related to maintaining records that are consistent with departmental practices and university/CSU standards.
- Incumbent will develop/streamline content for Career Center workshops, resources and other professional development materials or programs in support of clients' career development and to promote career services.
- Incumbent will collaborate with faculty and staff from academic departments and other units to facilitate campus partnerships through specialized content development and programming, and facilitate counseling staff assignment to different constituency groups. Typical programs and workshops include club events, professional panels, department and individual college presentations and seminars.
Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of three (3) years supervisory experience is required.
- Master's degree from an accredited university along with the equivalent to five (5) years of supervisory experience is preferred.
- Recent record of increasingly responsible professional leadership experience in an academic environment is essential along with the ability to interpret and communicate policies and procedures efficiently and effectively;
- Possess highly effective interpersonal and communication skills to include excellent oral and written skills;
- Familiarity with University and system-wide policies and procedures, especially campus policy manuals related to appointment and evaluation of faculty;
- Have working knowledge in managing conflict and dispute resolution;
- Work collaboratively with a diverse group of people including, administrators, faculty, staff, department chairs, academic student employees, union representatives and the external community;
- Ability to comprehend and digest large amounts of information, and the ability to be flexible to adjust to competing priorities and work assignments;
- Demonstrate excellent organization and problem solving skills and have a proven track record for showing an ability to work effectively under pressure, and responsive to multiple priorities;
