Physician Extender II

The Johnston County Public Health Department - Behavior Health Division has an opening for a full-time Physician Extender II.

Position performs psychiatric evaluations and psych-pharmacological management for patients in the inpatient behavioral health program.

Knowledgeable in techniques of interviewing, medical and relevant history taking, and principles and practices of general medicine and disease states as they relate to the area of work. Skilled in techniques of interviewing, medical and relevant history taking, and management of general medicine and diseases as they relate to the area of work. Ability to record accurately and completely all information necessary to assess and evaluate the patient, plan his/her care, and convey necessary information to the supervising physician.

Current license as a Registered Nurse by the Board of Nursing, graduation from a Nurse Practitioner Program approved by the NC Joint Subcommittee of the Board of Nursing and NC Board of Medical Examiners and "approved to practice medical acts" based on education and experience by the Joint Subcommittee; or graduation from a Physician Assistant Program approved by the NC Board of Medical Examiners and "approved to practice medical acts" based on education and experience by the Board of Medical Examiners. Experience as an extender in the field of psychiatry preferred.
