Description
- The Montgomery County Department of Parks, Horticulture, Forestry and Environmental Education Division, is currently seeking Seasonal/Intermittent applicants to fill positions at Brookside Nature Center.Weekend Naturalist at Brookside Nature Center ($15.25 - $23.63/hr.)Brookside Nature Center is seeking an individual to provide nature-oriented programs for children's birthday parties, scout programs and nature arts and crafts activities. Duties include meeting and greeting families; presenting an hour long program and leading short walks around the nature center; occasional evening hours; and, maintaining and organizing program materials. Hours vary from 5 – 16 hours/weekend.Preferred Candidates will possess:
- BA/BS in Education or Science
- Experience teaching children
- Experience in creating and conducting environmental education lessons
- Maryland natural history knowledge
- Willingness to work outside
- Superior communication skills; outgoing and friendly
- Organizational ability
- Team player
- CPR/First Aid certification
- Be able to pass a FBI and MD Background check
- Must be at least 21 years old
Minimum Qualifications
Six years of experience and specialized education and training in skill area or college graduate with two years of teaching experience in specific skill area; applicant must possess appropriate certifications when applicable to position vacancy.
