  • Provides general information to customers for various city services (such as water, sewer, potholes, ditches, culverts, traffic signals and signs, dangerous buildings, weeded lots) or transfers calls to appropriate City personnel.
  • Researches, analyzes and resolves customers' problems and inquiries.
  • Assists in locating personnel in the City of Houston to respond to citizens' requests for city services.
  • Receives telephone calls using the automatic call distribution system and computer-based work management system to provide customers information on services requested.
  • May receive calls for non-dispatch police services.

Division/ Section: Bush Intercontinental Airport/Facilities Administration

Reporting Location: 2800 N. Terminal Dr. (subject to change)

Workdays & Hours: Varied, normally M-F (subject to change)

Performs clerical and administrative support work including organizing, maintaining and retrieving files, keeping records; researching, preparing and typing detailed analysis and reports; documents processing and performing backup duties as needed. Operates various office machines including computers, calculators, copiers, and faxes. Answers telephone, sorts mail, and schedules meetings. Performs a variety of assignments including drafting correspondence, reports, charts, etc. Assists with the production of reports for the divisional budget, including printing, copying, and binding the reports. Prepares issue requests and keeps records. Assists with the annual Fixed Asset Inventory. Prepares periodic and special reports. May occasionally deliver confidential documents to other buildings.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Performing these duties will involve visually observing and differentiating details amid distractions; solving arithmetic and numerical problems; speaking and writing effectively; dealing with people in tense situations; recognizing sound, tone and pitch; performing repetitive activities that are critical and demanding; ability to work in a standard office environment; sitting or standing for extended periods; maintain high ethical standards; working as a member of the team and operating a city vehicle; judgment in the selection and interpretation of data and a thorough knowledge of department and city policy and procedures dealing within area of responsibility. May be required to lift up to twenty (20) pounds. Must be willing and available to work all shifts, including rotations, weekends and holidays. Must be able to obtain and maintain security clearances.

Duties

MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

High School Diploma or GED Certificate

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Two (2) years of clerical or administrative support work experience

MINIMUM LICENSE REQUIREMENTS

Valid Class C Texas driver’s license and compliance with city’s policy on driving (AP 2-2).

Qualifications

Personal computer skills and experience with MS Windows environment, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook and SAP. Excellent telephone customer service and math skills.
