Position Purpose

For evaluation purposes, acceptable qualifying experience for all positions must have been in a paid capacity unless noted otherwise in the minimum qualifications for the posted position.

Additionally, 30+ hours per week will be counted as full-time employment and  will receive full credit for the amount of time employed.  A minimum of  15 through 29 work hours per week will be counted as part-time employment and will receive half credit for the amount of time employed.

Vacancies currently available in the following department(s):  Dallas Water Utilities-Purification East, Dallas Water Utilities-Southside Wastewater Treatment Plant.

Minimum Qualifications

EDUCATION:  

  • High school diploma or GED.

EXPERIENCE (must include all of the following):

  • One (1) year of lead work or supervisory experience.

LICENSE(S) and/or CERTIFICATION(S):

  • Current Class B (or higher) Water Distribution, Surface Water Operator OR Wastewater Operator license from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ)*
  • Valid driver's license with good driving record.

OTHER REQUIREMENT(S):

  • Must have own transportation.
  • Subject to twenty-four/seven (24/7) call-out.
  • Availability to work varying shifts (days, evenings, nights) including weekends, and holidays.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITY(IES):

  • Working knowledge of physical/chemical/water/wastewater treatment methods.

Dallas Water Utilities-Wastewater Operations: A Class B (or higher) Wastewater Treatment Plant Operators license from the TCEQ is required.

Dallas Water Utilities- Purification: A Class B (or higher) Surface Water Operators License from the TCEQ is required.

Dallas Water Utilities- Pumping:  A Class B (or higher) Surface Water OR Water Distribution Operators License from the TCEQ is required.

*Applicants with current Water/Wastewater license(s) from other states must apply for and obtain the appropriate license from the TCEQ in order to qualify.
