- Provides general information to customers for various city services (such as water, sewer, potholes, ditches, culverts, traffic signals and signs, dangerous buildings, weeded lots) or transfers calls to appropriate City personnel.
- Researches, analyzes and resolves customers' problems and inquiries.
- Assists in locating personnel in the City of Houston to respond to citizens' requests for city services.
- Receives telephone calls using the automatic call distribution system and computer-based work management system to provide customers information on services requested.
- May receive calls for non-dispatch police services.

Workdays & Hours: Varied, normally M-F (subject to change)
Under general supervision, performs a variety of personnel activities such as maintaining the applicant testing database and section files. Responsible for ordering and tracking requests for Motor Vehicle Records. Assists applicants as needed to apply for positions on HAS and City Of Houston websites. Responds to phone inquiries concerning application status. Collects and distributes incoming mail; uses computers, printers and a variety of office equipment. Other duties and special projects as assigned.
WORKING CONDITIONS
The position occasionally requires stooping or bending. Occasional very light lifting, such as three or four reams of papers or books (up to 20 pounds or an equivalent weight) may be required. There are no major sources of discomfort, i.e., essentially normal office environment with acceptable lighting, temperature and air conditions. Requires the ability to make coordinated gross motor movements in response to changing external stimuli within moderately demanding tolerances; or the ability to make coordinated eye/hand movements on a patterned response space within low tolerance demands with no real speed requirements. Must be able to obtain and maintain security clearances.Duties
MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
High School Diploma or GED Certificate
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Two (2) years of clerical or administrative support work experience
MINIMUM LICENSE REQUIREMENTS
Valid Class C Texas driver’s license and compliance with city’s policy on driving (AP 2-2).Qualifications
Excellent customer service skills. Experience with Microsoft Windows XP, Word, and Excel.
