Position Description

This is a Full-Time Non-Civil Service position with medical, dental, pension, and other insurance benefits.


Work Hours:  7:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.

Typical Duties

  • Plan and implement learning experiences that advance the intellectual, physical, and emotional development of children, including improving the readiness of children for school

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field with experience teaching preschool-age children.

Or
Bachelor's Degree in any field and has been admitted into the Teach for America program, passed a rigorous Early Childhood content exam such as the Praxis II, participated in a Teach for America summer training institute that includes teaching preschool children, and is receiving ongoing professional development and support from Teach for America's professional staff.

Valid TN Driver License

Candidates with accreditations earned in a foreign institute are encouraged to apply.

Per Metro Ordinance No. SO94-1078. All employees of the Metropolitan Government shall be residents of the State of Tennessee or become residents of the state within six (6) months of employment as a prerequisite to employment with the Metropolitan Government.

Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Previous work experience with young children
Possess the ability to promote the appropriate development skills in young children
Teamwork experience
