Summary Description:
1. Works 19 hours a week or hourly as assigned. 
2. Performs lifeguard duties 
3. Perform some clerical duties 
4. Perform light custodial/maintenance duties in the aquatic facility. 

Overall Purpose and Responsibility:
The primary and most important overall responsibility of all RCBC employees is to provide service in a safe, pleasant, helpful, and effective manner to our students, parents and other members of the college community.  

INSTITUTIONAL EFFECTIVENESS:
Accepts responsibility for the timely preparation of student outcomes assessment efforts of the faculty in planning, collecting data, and reporting dates as they relate to course outcomes, program outcomes, general education outcomes, and developmental program outcomes. Actively participates in setting annual division goals and objectives, completing OIR reporting forms, collecting data, analyzing data, and preparing a report using guidelines established by OIR.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

1. Arrive at the pool 15 minutes prior to opening 
2. Sign in patrons and collects daily usage fees. 
3. Tests the water hourly, record results and report imbalances to Head Guard or supervisor. 
4. Assist instructors in getting equipment ready for classes. 
5. Takes immediate directions from Head Lifeguard regarding daily duties adn keeps busy with duties secondary during low or no pool usage. 
6. Perform patron surveillance with a rescue tube from the guard stand. Observe the water during changes in water activities. 
7. Set up pool for various activities such as laps, classes, etc. 
8. Ensures the safety of the patrons. 
9. Works as a team with other lifeguards during special events. 
10. Responds to an emergency and activates EMS. 
11. Enforces facility rules and regulations. 
12. Checks emergency equipment and first aid stations for supplies/serviceability. 
13. Attends in service training. 
14. Performs light Custodial/Maintenance duties: stores equipment, pick up debris from the pool or deck, hoses down deck, removes standing water, stores lost and found, picks up trash, moves bleachers, cleans gutters and scum lines, and puts in/takes out lane lines, etc. 
15. Performs light clerical duties when not lifeguarding such as record keeping of statistics, completing accident forms, word processing, inventory, etc. 
16. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Education:
1. Hold current Lifeguard Training Certificate from a recognized organization approved by the NJ Department of Health. 
2. Hold current CPR for the Professional Rescuer Certificate. 

Minimum Experience:
1. Six months experience preferred. 
2. Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) training.  

Additional Information
