Desc

The Massachusetts Human Resources Division is seeking individuals to work as proctors for civil service examinations. We are in search of teachers, professional trainers and other individuals experienced in providing formal instructions to a group of 25 or more individuals in a classroom or examination setting.
 
The daily rate for classroom proctors is $120 for approximately 7.5 hours. Proctors receiving an assignment will be notified by letter two weeks before the examination date. Assignments will be based on the number of applicants scheduled for the exam. You may expect 1 to 8 assignments per year. 
All civil service examinations are held on Saturdays. 
You must be at least 21 years old in order to be an exam proctor.

Duty


  • The ability to effectively read exam instructions clearly to candidates and provide adequate explanations.
  • The ability to accurately count exam booklets and candidates.
  • The ability to write a room report.
  • Must have the ability to remain attentive and observant throughout the exam.
  • Must be able to maintain a secure testing environment.
  • Must be able to walk up and down stairs.
  • Must have the ability to hear properly.
  • Knowledge of Civil Service proctoring guidelines.

Qual

  • High School Diploma is required.
  • College experience and/or an Associate’s degree or higher is preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent problem solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot.
  • Being able to maintain a calm and professional demeanor at all times.
