Each day, hundreds of citizens visit the court to file papers, go to court proceedings, attend workshops, or find out about their court cases. The Contra Costa Superior Court is looking for volunteers to help people find what they need when they get to court.

There are volunteer openings in Martinez, Richmond, Pittsburg, and Walnut Creek.

Please note, volunteering with the Court does not constitute service for court ordered community service.

Greeters: These volunteers are stationed in court lobbies to help people find court departments, to answer common questions, and to provide information about where court visitors can find other information they need.

Minimum/Desirable Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

Volunteers Must:
  • Be at least 18 years of age;
  • Complete an application and successfully pass an interview;
  • Successfully pass a criminal background check;
  • Commit to providing friendly and courteous services to court visitors;
      
  • Be willing to work at least two shifts per week; and
      
  •  Must commit to a six month time-frame.

 Contra Costa Superior Court volunteers are required to attend a 2 hour training session. This training gives volunteers basic information about:
    
  • How the court works;
  • Court policies and procedures;
  • Where court facilities are located; and
      
  • Where people can find the legal or other information they need.
