The Family Health Services Bureau, Public Health Division of the Health and Social Services Department is recruiting for regular and extra-help positions.

The eligible list established from this recruitment will be used to fill part-time and full-time regular, limited-term or extra-help positions as vacancies occur or the need arises.

Examples of Duties / Knowledge & Skills

Performs psychiatric evaluations and diagnoses of assigned clients; to develop, monitor, and evaluate appropriate treatment plans including psychotherapy and/or psychotropic medication strategies for in-house and out-patient clients; to perform and monitor a variety of administrative tasks/functions in support of assigned program areas/division services; and to act as a positive and cooperative team member and resource within the Health and Social Services Department.

These job classifications perform highly responsible and specialized professional functions and tasks in a very independent manner. Administrative direction is received from a member of senior management. Employees in these job classes may provide administrative direction to professional level contractors and/or private service providers as well as assigned County staff. These job classes may have programmatic, clinical, and administrative responsibilities. These job classes require high degrees of professional level knowledge and expertise as well as excellent organizational and communication skills.

Minimum qualifications & Requirements

Some professional level experience performing responsible psychiatric evaluations and treatment of clients from diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds which demonstrates possession of a competency in requisite knowledge and abilities. Typical qualifying education and experience would be:

1. Graduation from an accredited medical school in the United States or Canada. and
2. Successful completion of a three or four year psychiatry residency program that is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) and
3. Possession of a valid license as a physician and surgeon issued by the state of California. and
4. At least two years of professional experience providing psychiatric counseling and evaluations of clients.

Solano County offers a comprehensive benefit package to full and part-time employees which includes a cafeteria-style medical package with health benefits offered through CalPERS. The County contributes 75% of the Kaiser family rate for the Bay area for coverage that begins the first of the month following date of hire. The County offers a cash back provision for those who choose employee-only medical coverage or those who waive medical insurance coverage. Dental and vision insurances for the employee and eligible dependents are paid 100% by the County.
Solano County participates in CalPERS retirement, and contributes to Social Security.
Vacation is accrued at approximately 10 days per year for the first 78 full time pay periods (approximately 3 years). Sick leave accrues at approximately 12 days per year. Additionally, the County observes 12 fixed, paid holidays per year.
