The Department consists of 8 Officers, 1 Commander, 2 Sergeants, 3 Reserve Officers and the Chief. Our Officers engage closely with the community and receive tremendous support from our residents. As a small department all of our officers receive training in and perform duties that cover a variety of police functions.

The city is located on the eastern edge of Solano County, 27 miles east of Fairfield, 16 miles north of Antioch and 17 miles west of Lodi. Nestled on the bank of the Sacramento River, the City is accessible by water, land and air.

Examples of Duties / Knowledge & Skills

Typical duties include patrolling the City to preserve law and order; preventing crimes; enforcing traffic laws; making arrests; preparing and maintaining investigative reports; interviewing victims and witnesses; searching for and collecting evidence; investigating traffic accidents; providing testimony in court; serving subpoenas; transporting prisoners to jail; and participating in community events.

Minimum qualifications & Requirements

All applicants must:
- be able to perform the essential job functions of the position;
- possess a high school diploma or G.E.D.;
- be a U.S. citizen; have a valid California Class C driver's license;
- be 21 by date of appointment;
- possess a valid, satisfactory driving record and
- be free of any felony convictions.

Applicant must have completed the POST Basic Police Academy within the last 36 months.

RETIREMENT – The City participates in the Public Employee Retirement System (PERS).

Benefits include 2% @ 50 formula, military buy back option and credit for a portion of unused sick leave upon
retirement. Vested at five continuous years of service.

City currently pays employer, and partial employee share for "Classic" members through December 31, 2015.

Hire date on or after 1/1/13 and deemed "new" member: (New member = no prior PERS/reciprocal employment or a break in service greater than 6 months).

Formula for new members is 2.7% at 57 with a required employee contribution and three (3) year's final compensation.

Hire date on or before 12/31/12 and deemed "classic" member: (Classic member = prior PERS/reciprocal employment with less than 6 month break in service)

Effective January 1, 2013, every new enrollment will be tested by CalPERS against this definition of "new member", regardless of whether the enrollment is for a first-time CalPERS member or existing CalPERS member.

Currently, Classic members shall pay 4.5% of the employees share.

Effective January 1, 2016, Classic members shall pay an additional 4.5% for a total of 9%. Classic members shall receive a corresponding salary equity adjustments of 3.6%.

SOCIAL SECURITY - The City participates in Social Security (6.2%) and Medicare (1.45%).

Currently, employees pay 1.25% of the employee's share.
Effective January 1, 2016, employees shall pay an additional 1.25%, for a total of 2.5% of the employee's share.

DEFERRED COMPENSATION – Employee may participate in the City's Deferred Comp plan, a457k plan with Voya. The City provides no match.

HEALTH INSURANCE – Currently the City provides coverage for employee and family. Employee has several plans in which to choose from; three PPO's which include PERS Choice, PERS Select and PERS Care and several HMO's; Kaiser Permanente, Blue Shield Access+, Blue Shield Net Value,
United Healthcare, Anthem HMO Select & Anthem HMO Traditional.

Currently employees pay 5% of cost of their selected medical
plan. Effective January 1, 2016, employees will pay an additional 5% of cost of their selected medical
plan for a total of 10%.

If Employee elects to forego health coverage through the City, the Employee is entitled to receive a monthly cash back benefit of $600 for 2-party coverage or $750 for family coverage.

DENTAL INSURANCE – Currently the City pays 100% for employee and family. The City offers one plan, Guardian.

VISION INSURANCE – Currently the City pays 100% for employee and family. The City offers one plan, VSP.

LIFE INSURANCE – Currently the City pays 100% for employee only. The City offers a $25,000 plan through The Standard.

LEAVES –
Holiday – Fifteen (15) observed holidays including two floating holidays – In lieu of receiving holiday pay, it will be pro-rated to be paid per pay period.

Vacation – 12 days accrued for years 1 – 3, 15 days accrued for years 4 - 7 years, 18 days accrued
for years 8 – 11, and up to 25 days for 20 years and over

Sick Leave – 3.69 hours per pay period (26 pay periods per year).

Other Leaves – Bereavement, Jury Duty, and Military Leave.

LONGEVITY – A 5% longevity step increase will be granted after each ten year period of service.
The longevity step increase will be included as part of the base pay for the computation of overtime,
holiday pay and vacation pay.

To the extent allowable by applicable law, employee contributions toward the employee's PERS and
Health contributions will be deducted on a pre-tax basis.
