DESCRIPTION

Take the first step toward an exciting career in the growing field of highway design and engineering as a Transportation Engineering Technician. In this entry level job you will serve in a technical training capacity, learning the basic concepts of highway and bridge construction and maintenance, including planning, design, surveys, materials, construction inspection, utility placement and relocation, traffic operations, and bridge safety. You will participate in a technical training program requiring 180 Technician Development Hours. We are looking for high school graduates with analytical ability, excellent math and problem solving skills, and a desire to learn and grow.

Applicants who applied for this title within the past 11 months are not required to take the test to remain eligible for agency consideration. Applicants remain active for 1 year. Applicants who choose to re-apply are required to take the written exam.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Training: High school graduation or equivalent.
Math, Basic Algebra, Reading Comprehension, and Data Analysis skills are desirable. Very basic familiarity with topographic map reading, and basic surveying terms may be helpful.

Special Requirement: Possession of a valid driver's license.

Annual Increment Pay

The annual increment is $60 for each full year of qualifying service, and is paid in July of each year. This is available to employees with 3 or more years of service.

Holidays

Twelve (12) paid holidays in each year.

Vacation

15 to 24 days per year depending on length of service.

Paid Sick Leave

We offer an outstanding paid sick leave benefit.

Employees earn 1.5 days each month or 18 days per year.
