Position: Deputy Sheriff
Starting Salary: $33,637.49
 
Benefits:
  • Physical Fitness Pay-up to $50.00 month
  • Education Incentive Pay- $42.00 month/any degree
  • Sheriff's office Emergency Response Team-$150.00/month
  • Honor Guard-$50.00 month:  

    Plus: Health and Dental Insurance Available. Accrued vacation/sick time. VRS Retirement with Law Enforcement Officer (LEO) Supplement.
Qualifications:
  • Must be 21 years of age.
  • Must have a valid Virginia or North Carolina Driver's License
  • Must have Social Security Card
  • Must have Original Birth Certificate
  • Former military must have an original DD-214

  • Retirement
    If you are hired October 5, 2010 or after to a position with City of Norfolk Retirement System benefits, you will be required to contribute five percent (5%) of your salary toward your retirement benefit.  This will be a pre-tax payroll deduction.
