Police Telecommunicator (Not Classified Service)
Division of Protective Services
Location:
Kanawha County, Charleston , West Virginia
Job Type: Full-Time Permanent
Starting Salary:  $24,542 (Salary range: $20,472 - $37,884)

Under general supervision performs full performance level work in monitoring the Division's closed circuit television system (CCTV) and other security-related systems including electronically controlled gates and bollards. Operates the Division's radio transmission/dispatch system to provide for the efficiency and safety of the uniformed personnel of the Division of Protective Services. Incumbent will utilize the West Virginia Electronic Automated Police Network (WEAPON) system and other law enforcement related intelligence and information gathering/dissemination systems in response to authorized inquiries concerning criminal history, wanted persons, driver history, and vehicle/gun registrations. The Command Center is the first contact for most emergencies that occur at the Capitol Complex and is manned 24/7, shift work is required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Training: Graduation from a standard four-year high school or the equivalent.

Experience: One year of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience in work requiring contact with the public.

Annual Increment Pay

The annual increment is $60 for each full year of qualifying service, and is paid in July of each year. This is available to employees with 3 or more years of service.

Holidays

Vacation

15 to 24 days per year depending on length of service.
