Job Description

The purpose of this class is to assess short-term and long-term integration of agency policies, procedures, and standard operating procedures with the requirements of the accrediting institutions by coordinating policy development within the agency. The class is responsible for complex and special tasks for area of responsibility performing non-sworn technical and administrative work directed at maintaining accreditation and agency professional standards. This class works independently with minimal supervision making decisions that are in line with the agency's mission, goals, and objectives.

Position Duties

The tasks listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional related tasks as necessary.

  • Oversees the accreditation process, including assessments; evaluates and reports the efficiency and effectiveness of the accreditation program.
  • Plan and monitor the on-site assessments and maintain appropriate records relating to accreditation activities; take the lead role while getting the agency prepared for mock and on-site assessments.
  • Coordinates and conducts inspections required by standards and Sheriff.
  • Acts as the coordinator of policy/procedure development by reviewing, maintaining and updating existing policies/procedures.
  • Establishes policy review schedule.
  • Responsible for forms management and development within area of responsibility.
  • Assists Command staff in establishing and maintaining tracking system for time sensitive activities within area of responsibility.
  • Assists other managers and supervisors with policy and accreditation compliance.
  • Maintains liaison and cooperation with agency managers and supervisors as well as accreditation managers of other local, county, and state agencies.
  • Establish and maintain accreditation files by planning and coordinating the functions and tasks required to achieve completeness and correctness of those files.
  • Prepares routine and recurring reports such as progress reports, and special reports as required.
  • Responsible for maintenance and administration of agency document management system to include entering, updating and disabling employee access, monitoring for compliance, and providing technical assistance and instruction.
  • Serve on various internal and external advisory committees as related to area of responsibility.
  • Provide documentation for public records requests as related to area of responsibility.
  • Performs routine office tasks such as typing, filing, copying, faxing and telephoning.
  • Coordinate and conduct inspections, audits and inventories as required for area of responsibility.
  • Regular, dependable and punctual attendance is an essential function of this job.

Minimum Qualifications

Requires Associate's Degree that includes management training.

May have already taken CFA Accreditation Manager training, or will receive this training within the first year of being in the position

Previous experience as an accreditation manager is preferred, but not required. Must have previous management experience or training. Person may obtain training/experience on-the-job through qualified training programs with CFA or FLA-PAC.

Additional Information

Work is primarily performed in an office environment.

Work is conducted during normal business hours (Monday through Friday 8am - 5pm); flexibility required to meet departmental needs.
