Administrative Director

The major purpose is to provide administrative and secretarial support to the North Carolina Department of Public Safety Victim Services Section which is comprised of four programs:  Victims Compensation Commission, Rape Victims Assistance Program, Prisons Probation and Parole and NC SAVAN (NC Statewide Automated Victims Assistance Notification).  In order to assist victims, management and the general public with questions and in order to provide resource information.  This position receives frequent requests from victims, management and the general public about Victim Services programs.  The position requires direct communication with various individuals within the organization.  Must be able to exercise judgment during communications with victims, management and the general public. 

This position requires good typing skills, ability to communicate professionally on the telephone and ability to interact with various individuals and professionals in the criminal justice system.  Must possess excellent administrative skills, ability to compose correspondence; ability to edit for grammar, accuracy, and content; good organizational skills; and good communication skills.  Ability to maintain effective working relationships with a variety of contacts.  Must possess computer skills to include Microsoft Office suite.  Must be able to comprehend, interpret, and apply NC statutes and section policies.  This position is responsible for mail, registering victims into the OPUS and Vine Watch systems, Offender notification for victims to be notified of offender movement in the prison system.  The position is knowledgeable of Prisons, Probation, and Parole policies in North Carolina Responsible for answering victim questions concerning processing restitution.  Responsible for projects as may be assigned by the Section Chief
