Essential Functions

Under the direction of a Principal Investigator or higher level research staff, utilizes molecular biology techniques to generate, clone, purify, and analyze bacterial DNA plasmids; isolates, clones and analyzes DNA from transgenic Caenorhabditis elegans worms; maintains laboratory notebook; prepares laboratory media and solutions; maintains laboratory in an orderly manner; follows appropriate procedures when handling biohazardous materials; regular and prompt attendance; ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required; related duties as required.

Minimum Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent and one year of experience in a public health, medical, clinical, or research laboratory.

Successful completion of twelve semester hours of college training in a physical or natural science from an accredited institution as approved and accepted by the University of South Alabama may be substituted for the required experience.

Temporary Part-time position ~ 20 hours per week
