Job Responsibilities

The position will be located at the Aiken County Detention Center.  Position includes call back to ACDC for emergencies after 5pm/holidays/weekends.

The Department of Mental Health is a drug-free workplace.  All candidates will be required to pass a mandatory pre-employment drug test.  This position is located at Aiken Barnwell MHC/Aiken Office 1135 Gregg Hwy., Aiken, SC  29801.

Job Purpose
Under general supervision provides individualized assessment, crisis intervention, individual and group therapy and referral and brief case-management services to inmates at the Aiken County Detention Center.

Job Duties

1. Provide safe, effective, measurable and evidence based mental health services to inmates at the Aiken County Detention Center to reduce symptoms, improve functioning, and reduce recidivism.
 
2. Coordinate services and discharge planning between service providers at intake, during treatment and at least 10 days prior to release to promote continuity of care and ensure basic needs are met. This includes but is not limited to referrals to mental health providers (state/private/hospitals); bridge scripts; referrals for housing/food/medical/vocational/veteran's benefits; entitlements, etc. 
 
3.Coordinate scheduling of group activities (GPTX and PSS) and appointments with Nurse Practitioner/Psychiatrist and Entitlement Specialist at ACDC.
 
4. Participate in clinical staffings and trainings with clinical treatment team and ACDC staff to promote continuity of care. This includes providing consultation and training to ACDC staff.
 
5. Completes clinical documentation in an appropriate and timely manner that meets Federal/State/QA/CARF standards.
 
6. Demonstrates fiscal responsibility and accountability to advance our mission including compliance with corporate compliance policies/procedures.
 

 
7. Performs other duties as needed.
 

Minimum and Additional Requirements

A bachelor's degree and professional experience in human services or social services programs.

Preferred Qualifications

Agency Preferences
A Master's from an accredited program, university, or college in psychology, social work, counseling, marriage and family counseling or other behavioral discipline deemed equivalent by SCDMH and two (2) years of post-graduate experience in a clinical counseling program. Must be eligible to become a notary in the state of state of South Carolina.
