Summary

The County of Butte is currently recruiting for college students to participate in our College Intern Program.  The College Intern Program is a year round program, with priority being given to college students that are earning their first undergraduate degree.  Internships may be part-time or full-time, depending on the department's needs, and are designed to recruit and train college students for skilled, professional and administrative careers in local government by providing an opportunity for them to become familiar with the practical application of courses being studied.
This internship is available to either a Bachelor's or Master's level student.  Hours are anticipated to be 12-18 per week.  Internship to begin when filled, ending in May, 2019.
Participants in this program will be given defined projects at their assigned County department with a defined timeframe for their completion.  The work of interns in intended to supplement - not supplant - the work that would be done by a regular County employee.  The County will work with program participants who may be able to earn academic credits from their College or University.  It will be the Intern's responsibility to find out what the College/University requirements are to earn those credits and communicate that information to the County in order to coordinate that partnership.
Interested students will be asked to undergo an application process in response to any internship opportunity that has been advertised as available.  This process includes completing an online application and supplemental questionnaire.  Applications will be accepted on a continuous basis, and those applicants who are eligible to participate in the program will be invited to attend a mandatory orientation as a next step in the selection process.  Once an eligible applicant has attended the mandatory orientation, Human Resources will be able to forward their application to any department(s) with an available internship that would be the best match based on the requirements on the internship, the applicant's education and career interests/previous volunteer pursuits.
