Position Summary

The purpose of this position is to provide support to the Farmers Branch Historical Park and the Parks and Recreation Department by implementing marketing and advertising campaigns that increase attendance and generate revenue for activities, events and programs.

Essential Job Functions


  • Assist in creating and implementing marketing campaigns that increase attendance and revenue.
  • Develop short term and long term marketing strategies for all the divisions within the Parks and Recreation Department with focus on the Historical Park.
  • Develop and create copy in a wide range of print and digital applications which may include:  writing copy for print, web, social and paid advertising; designing, editing and production of collateral materials.
  • Create, update, revise and manage web content utilizing the content management system (CMS).  Conducting regular reviews of web site pages to ensure accuracy, timeliness and relevance.
  • Create and plan social media content.
  • Monitor analytics and results of advertising, websites and social media and create reports summarizing the results of marketing campaigns.
  • Provide design support for a wide range of print and digital applications including design, layout, content and modifying/redesigning existing pieces.
  • Work with a graphic designer to create look and feel for large projects.
  • Participates in a variety of meetings to provide guidance regarding marketing opportunities and options.
  • Manage the distribution of marketing pieces (flyers, banners, signs, etc), merchandise and promotional material including delivery and set up to city facilities, green spaces and local businesses.
  • Create and update online community calendars and provide new content to external websites.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in copy and editing as it pertains to PARD marketing communications.
  • Photograph events and programs for the department or work with a contractor/co-worker to get photographs.
  • Other duties as required.

     

Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree in digital marketing and communications, advertising, marketing or graphic design with two years relative experience.

Minimum of one year using website content management system with strong knowledge in navigation, SEO and Google Analytics.

Minimum of one year using Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter for a business page.

Video and editing skills preferred.

Equivalent combinations of education, experience, certification and training will be considered.  

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of and passion for marketing and digital media.
 
Team player, self-starter and creative thinker with the ability to be flexible, pay attention to details and exhibit exceptional organizational skills.
 
Knowledge of basic computer software programs including Microsoft Office, email and internet and Ability to use a tablet and mobile device.
 
Knowledge of writing and design principles and ability to design creative pieces thorough Adobe Creative Suite using Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator.
 
Ability to create content on social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
 
Ability to communicate effectively and develop a positive rapport with management, vendors and patrons and utilize exceptional customer service skills.
 
Must be dependable and responsible. 

This is a contract position and not eligible for benefits.
