Job Responsibilities

This position is located within the Division of Technology (DTO) of the Department of Administration (Admin). Under general supervision, the incumbent serves as a Network Integration Manager for Admin/DTO/Network Services/Network Integration. Ensures basic and advanced technical solutions are provided to customers/users information/network technology designs, installations, modifications, and troubleshooting requests while adhering to agency and state information/network policies. The incumbent oversees the hardware, software, and circuits that make up the MetroNet network, customer networks, and customer connections. Participates in discussions with customers, vendors, and peers. Provides leadership in networking for DTO. Demonstrates a knowledge of best practices for secure networking, and expertise in the design, configuration, management, and troubleshooting of networks. Develops and maintains processes, procedures, and checklists for managing networks. Works with DTO Project Management Office to document projects. Performs other duties as required. 

Minimum and Additional Requirements

State Minimum Requirements: A bachelor's degree in communications, business administration, computer science (information technology), mathematics, statistics, management information science or a related field and experience in telecommunications, data processing and/or information technology. Relevant experience may be substituted for bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis.
Agency Minimum Requirements: A bachelor's degree related to information technology and at least five years of progressive experience in information technology; or an associate's degree related to information technology and at least seven years of progressive experience in information technology; or a high school diploma and at least nine years of progressive experience in information technology.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: At least two years of experience in support of Cisco network devices. Knowledge of information technology concepts and principles with an ability to interpret and translate requirements into operational designs and actions. Knowledge and understanding of privacy, audit, and legal technology standards, guidelines, and principles. Knowledge of current and emerging information technology systems, technology threats, vulnerabilities, systems testing, and valuation methods. Ability to evaluate suppliers and/or products and provide reviews of technical systems. Must have the ability to manage a team of individuals with varying skill sets to complete the tasks assigned. Must be able to analyze urgent situations, prioritize the needs of the situation, assign engineers to remediate situations while not interrupting the daily work flow. 

The incumbent must posses a valid SC driver's license and maintain an up-to-date Defensive Driving Certificate. Position may require work beyond the 37.5 hour work week, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Must carry a mobile communications device, if provided. Must be able to work during emergency/disaster events, including hazardous weather. Work may be required on-site or remote or a combination of both. Applicants indicating college credit or degree(s) on the application will be required to bring a copy of college transcript to the interview.  A copy of the transcript may also be uploaded as an attachment to the application, if required by the hiring department or if desired by the applicant.  Please note that some areas  of the Department may require an official, certified copy of the transcript prior to hiring or within a specific timeframe required by that area, after hiring.  Failure to produce an official, certified transcript may result in not being hired or termination.
